Before I became a home owner, I never thought that home ownership was even a possibility for me. I worked for years as an entertainer with inconsistent income and had never been responsible as far as saving for the future. Even after I started a new career and had a steady income, I thought that not having enough money for a downpayment disqualified me from ever buying a home.
I found out I was wrong.
A Realtor friend of mine introduced me to the down payment assistance programs available in the Metro Atlanta Area.
I found a lender who was approved to work with various down payment assistance programs, attended the required First Time Homebuyer workshop, met the income limitations and credit score requirements, and was approved for a program through the City of Atlanta. They provided a grant to purchase a home in the city. As long as I lived in the home for 5 years as my primary residence, I didn't have to pay it back.
These programs often change, as far as the amount granted and the availibility of funds, but there are several options available in Atlanta, and many of the surrounding counties.
If you have questions about down payment assistance programs, I'd love to share my experience with you and help YOU become a home owner! Contact me at clint.clark@piedmontsky.com
I look forward to hearing from you.
